Welcome to the Urdaneta Net! As of July 1, 2013, the Baguio Mission was split, creating the new Philippines Urdaneta Mission. This blog has been created because President and Sister Monahan have been reassigned to preside in the Urdaneta Mission. We will keep The Baguio Beat blog so that our returned missionaries, families and friends can access pictures during the past year as we fondly remember the Baguio Mission. Beginning September 1st, all news, pictures and events in the Urdaneta Mission will be posted on the Urdaneta Net. We welcome all who are interested in the good work our elders and sisters are doing throughout the mission.
You might be wondering how we decided on the name of our new blog. Sister Monahan was thinking of something along the lines of Urdaneta Network or Urdaneta 'Net (short for Internet). President Monahan liked "Urdaneta Net," but for a different reason. President refers to "net" as something fishermen use. Jesus Christ said, "...Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Matthew 4:19).
We will soon have over 200 missionaries--all who accepted the call to follow their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by casting in their nets throughout their assigned areas in the Urdaneta Mission. Urdaneta will receive a temple, the third in the Philippines, and our elders and sisters have a great responsibility to press forward in furthering the work of the Lord in preparation of another of His holy temples. We feel blessed to work with these valiant disciples of Christ.
President and Sister Monahan
